Different Ways to Store Your Lights

You have now removed all the lights from your unlit artificial Christmas tree and have them color-coded by room and style. Next, you need to provide them with the best storage to keep them lasting another year.

If you love Pringles, you will love the tubes those chips come in

The tubes are great light holders, and you can use them to store other accessories like extra bulbs and clips. Start by cutting an x-shape in the clear plastic top and insert one end of your lights. Next, roll the lights around the tubes by starting at the top and working down to prevent light breakage. Finally, place the other end inside the hole you cut and use some tape to label each one where you use it in the home.

Use an old clothes hanger to store your Christmas lights

It works best for shorter light strands. Use a plastic one with hooks to wrap the lights around the curves. Start with one end wrapped around the hook until everything is neatly wrapped. Then use some bubble wrap or tissue paper to keep them safe and secure. Then place them in a box for storage or hang them on a wall.

Use those cardboard boxes after Christmas

Cut a flap to create a rectangle the size of a magazine. Then cut a few slits on one side of that flap, leaving a couple of inches between them. Do the same on the opposite side to be even with the first set. Attach the light sliding one end into the corner slit and pulling the wire through. Wind the cable to the opposite side, pulling it into that slit. Place them in larger boxes with a cushion or fabric in between.

You can bunch your lights together, securing them with cable ties. Then store them in a sealable box for safekeeping.

Another great option is a cable reel, which can hold loads of lights.

Storing Your Lights

Now that you have everything ready for storage, remove your unlit artificial Christmas tree. Next, you must find a perfect spot to store your Christmas decorations. Preferably store lights in plastic containers to prevent water damage and protect them. You can then keep them stored in the linen cupboard, under the bed, or any other storage place that is cool and dry.

Take time to remove your lights and decorations from your tree. Placing them neatly into containers is a great way to save time next Christmas when it’s time to decorate your tree.
